The answer, most equivocally, is yes. It is the God-shaped vacuum Pascal describes; it is the ocean, blocks from the boy in the sandbox, from Lewis' analogy. Absence of a thing cannot be, in and of itself, a thing. Dark does not exist without context of possible light.
